The essays included 'The Natural History of Religion,' 'Of the Passions,' 'Of Tragedy,' 'Of Suicide,' and 'Of the Immortality of the Soul.' The latter two essays made direct attacks on common religious doctrines by defending a person's moral right to commit suicide and Author: David Hume. Socrates explored of the various theories of immortality of the soul and tries to show that there is life after death in which the soul will live after death. However, the rest of the book being so strong, I had to give it 5 stars. And I have to add that Schopenhauer is extremely refreshing compared to some of the charlatans of today who spout all that light and fluffy, 'be positive /5.

THESE two Essays on Suicide and the Immortality of the Soul, though not published in any edition of his works, are generally attributed to the late ingenious Mr. Hume. The well-known contempt of this eminent philosopher for the common convictions of mankind, raised an apprehension of the contents from the very title of these : Library of Alexandria.
